Painting to Music

Adagio No.7
Reverie No.7 / 2013 / Terry Long

Most of my artworks are created while listening to music, but not just any music. Certain pieces of music can set a mood and tempo that is inspirational to me. I have spent a considerable amount of time and effort over the years searching for music that will create the right atmosphere for both my art therapy work, and also for my personal artwork. The composers I turn to most for my own work are Ralph Vaughan Williams,  Avro Part, Eric Satie, Claude Debussy, and Gerald Finzi. There are several other composers I like to listen to, but I always come back to these five. Because I use the medium of light, I create my work in the dark, and these conditions intensify my listening experience of the chosen music. Reverie No.7 was created with LED lights while listening to Reverie by Debussy. You can also listen to this piece here… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRjllL-MP0U
