Light has been the subject for many artists and photographers, and is used to great effect in both theatre and film production to enhance and reveal the subject and setting, but using it as a medium to create with is very different to any other visual medium. In some ways it is more akin to music, but instead of capturing the sound waves of the performance, the light waves are captured instead. I created Sacred Six Mandala using a crystal prism and sunlight, directing the sunlight onto a white surface. I also used photoshop to complete and finish the design. The light performance for this piece was captured and recorded on a Nikon D700 with a Nikon 28mm lens. My aim for this piece and many of my others is to create meditative and spiritual artworks.
