The abstract geometric designs of the Bauhaus and Constructivism art movements have a strong appeal to me, and they still influence many of todays current artists and designers around the world. My artwork Arrondir above was inspired by the works of the Russian artist El Lissitzky (1890-1941) who was both artist, architect, exhibition designer, typographer, photographer and also professor at the Moscow Art Academy. To create my artwork I used three crystal prisms and sunlight to paint several sections that I turned into digital transparency layers with photoshop. These were then montaged together to form the finished design. The painting process was recorded on my tripod mounted Nikon D700 digital SLR with a Nikon 85mm 1.4 lens. The exposures varied between 6 seconds and 15 seconds.
